The very thing that you can’t be bothered to do, is the exact thing that will give you results.

A recent study of over 1000 bloggers reveals what’s working and what’s not working when it comes to successfully blogging, and the results honestly shocked us 😲

More shocking than Will Young winning Pop Idol according to Andrew 🙄

In this video we show you how to use this data to get significantly better results from blogging.

We’ll be showing you how often should you be posting, how long should you spend on blogging and what works best to get results.

This study was done by our hero and SEO god Andy Crestodina, who is just one of the smartest guys in marketing (Pete’s a little bit in love with him…)

So, let’s dive in!

How long should you spend on blogging?

The data states that the average blog takes 3.5hrs to write. Which is an increase from previous years.

But is it enough!?

Well actually, no. The data shows that those who spent over 6 hrs on their blogs are 56% more likely to see ‘strong results’.

And yet only 13% of bloggers do it? That’s crazy!?

How long should your blogs be?

Andy’s survey shows that the average word count is 1151 words, with only 8% of bloggers writing over 2000 words.

This is insane if you think about it… we all know that Google loves longer form content. If you want to rank in Google, you need to write longer articles typically, but why is no-one bothered to write anything long form?

50% of Bloggers who write long form content report ‘strong results’ – yet less than 8% of bloggers do it! Cray cray!

We need to get our asses in gear! If we want blogging to work for us, we need to put in the effort!

In fact, if you read the full study, you’ll find that all of the data suggests this very thing, all the things we’re too lazy to do or don’t have the time to do – all yield the best results.

Less than 12% guest blog, but you’re 30% more likely to see strong results if you do.

Less than 19% add video their blogs, yet 37% of bloggers who do see strong results.

Less than 25% publish original research, but you’re almost 60% more likely to be successful if you do.

And it goes on and on!

The things that MOST people don’t do… actually provide the best results

Now it might seem like a big effort to add video to your blogs, guest blog, write longer articles and so on, but actually there’s a huge opportunity here…

The data is telling us that it isn’t all that hard to be better than average.

If we could just spend a few more hours per blog, we can actually put ourselves in the top 10% of bloggers who are getting strong results.

Don’t you want strong results?!

Pete’s questionable analogy

It’s like climbing a tree to see the view from the top – but then stopping half way where you can’t see anything. The pay off is only going to come once you’ve put in the effort to reach the top 🌳

Spending no time writing a short blog is really not going to give you massive results. You will be stuck half way up a tree seeing no results 👀

What do you think? Are up for the challenge of being in that top 10%? Or do you want to be stuck half way up the tree seeing no results?
